All J&K GRDS resolve eight-year dispute. Ousts litigants as per Sabha Constitution

Jammu, January 17 (Scoop News) All J&K Guru Ravidass Sabha (GRDS), represented by its Executive Body, Branch Heads, and prominent members of the Ravidassia community, announced the resolution of an eight-year-long dispute within the Sabha. The Ravidassia biradri of J&K, numbering over 4 lakh members, convened a General Body Meeting on 29th December 2024 to address the prolonged conflict, which had previously been entangled in legal disputes and court orders.
The General Body Meeting, conducted as per the Sabha Constitution, invoked Rule 9 to oust both disputing parties. It also appointed an Adhoc Committee to oversee the upcoming Shoba Yatra on 9th February and the celebration of Parkash Divas of Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj on 12th February 2025. The newly elected Adhoc Committee was tasked with organizing these events with grandeur and harmony. The Sabha emphasized that neither the General Ijlas nor the current Adhoc Committee is under judicial review.

Amidst rumors suggesting that ousted President Piran Ditta might attempt to claim Sabha property based on a 2019 court order, the Sabha clarified that the General House holds supreme authority in resolving internal disputes. The 2019 court order pertains to individuals who are not involved in the current settlement.
The Sabha highlighted earlier attempts to conduct elections under judicial oversight. On 1st June 2017, the 1st Additional District Judge constituted an Election Board chaired by Sh. Gopal Dass Dogra and supervised by the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu. However, Piran Ditta allegedly sabotaged the election process by withholding membership records and voters’ lists and refusing to provide accommodations for storing essential documents. In December 2017, the Divisional Commissioner noted that the Election Board was not cooperating, leading to a stalemate in the electoral process.
To resolve the ongoing crisis, the General House invoked its constitutional powers to oust both parties and form the Adhoc Committee. This committee will not only organize key events but also facilitate elections for the next governing body as per the Sabha Constitution.
Prof. Shivgotra, the Sabha spokesperson, informed the media that nearly all branch sabhas have submitted memorandums to the Divisional Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, supporting the Adhoc Committee. The memorandums urged civil and police authorities to avoid interference in religious matters, citing potential law-and-order concerns tied to the sentiments of the Ravidassia Biradari. The Sabha also disclosed financial irregularities involving the ousted President. An FIR was lodged against him for allegedly withdrawing Rs 2,30,000 from the SBI Bank on 30th December 2024 and 2nd January 2025 without authorization. Further investigations into past embezzlements are underway, and legal action will be pursued to safeguard public funds.
The Sabha extended its gratitude to the media and the civil and police administration for supporting its constitutional authority and ensuring the resolution of internal conflicts. The Sabha reiterated its commitment to fostering unity within the Ravidassia community and preserving the sanctity of its religious and cultural practices.
