Sakina Itoo Inaugurates Two-Day National Conference at GDC Samba | | Jammu, January 17 (Scoop News)-Shri Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba, dedicated to academic and research excellence, organized a Two-Day National Conference on “Mathematical Sciences and Applications,” co-sponsored by Take One, Jamkash Trucking, Department of Science, Technology & Innovation Council, J&K. The conference provided a platform for researchers, academicians, and students to discuss recent advances, challenges, and future directions in mathematical sciences. The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the felicitation of esteemed dignitaries. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri extended a warm welcome to Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Health & Medical Education, School Education, and Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, along with Sh. Surjeet Singh Slathia, Hon’ble MLA Samba; Jenab Ali Mohd. Dhar, Hon’ble MLA Chadoora; Jenab Showkat Ahmed, Hon’ble MLA Zainpora; Sh. Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner & Addl. Chief Secretary HED; Sh. Rajesh Sharma, DC Samba; Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director Colleges; Deans of Cluster University, and Principals from various colleges of Jammu Division. In her address, Hon’ble Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo emphasized the transformative power of education and expressed her appreciation for such intellectual exchanges. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing education and research, encouraging the institution to continue its pursuit of excellence. Alongside the Minister inaugurated the Controlled Access Security Act System at the main gate that shall ensure the safety and security of students, an RFID Unit in the Library making it fully automated, newly constructed classrooms, and the canteen which shall be run under the Govt Umeed scheme by female self help groups. In view of the forthcoming NAAC reaccreditation, she assured full support to the college for quality upgrading both in academia and infrastructural development. Sh Surjit Singh Salathia Ji , Hon’ble MLA. Samba appreciated the efforts of the college in organising an insightful conference. He exhorted the need for a bus and an auditorium which would further facilitate the development and well-being of the institution. Sh. Shantmanu, Addl. Chief Secretary HED, highlighted the pivotal role of mathematics in technological innovation and problem-solving, while Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir lauded the conference for fostering collaboration among scholars. The occasion also witnessed the release of the Conference Abstract Book, College Magazine “Basantar,” Viksit Bharat Magazine “Yuva Drishti,” IQAC Newsletter “Saarthi,” and PRAVAD Electoral Literacy Club’s Newsletter “Niti Nerd.” The conference features 80 research papers and poster presentations across themes like mathematical analysis, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, mathematical physics, and algebra, with 135 participants from various institutions. Conference Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Narayan Dutt introduced the theme, emphasizing mathematics’ role in technological advancement, while Dr. A.P. Singh, Professor Emeritus, in his keynote address, underscored the urgency of mathematical applications in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. The programme was anchored by Dr. Rubina Kousar and Dr. Babita Kumari, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Narinder Sharma, Convener NCMA. The event concluded with the recital of the National Anthem.
