Seminar on Scientific Beekeeping concludes at Poonch | | Poonch,February 04 (Scoop News)-The two-day district-level seminar on scientific beekeeping, organized by the Department of Agriculture, concluded today.
Under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), the seminar focused on modern apiculture techniques and sustainable practices, attracting beekeepers, farmers and college students.
DDC Chairperson Tazeem Akther -the chief guest, praised the initiative for empowering farmers and emphasized the role of beekeeping in enhancing income and crop productivity. She highlighted the importance of beekeeping as a profitable off-farm activity that provides an alternative source of income, enhances crop productivity through pollination, and supports sustainable rural development.
Chief Agriculture Officer Rakesh Kumar Sharma encouraged participants to utilize the Daksh Kisan Portal for practical training. The event featured expert lectures on hive management and disease prevention, alongside hands-on demonstrations.
Guest lectures by district officers and progressive beekeepers provided valuable insights into scientific hive management, honeybee disease prevention, pollination benefits, and honey extraction techniques.
The seminar wrapped up with a vote of thanks, highlighting the importance of beekeeping in agricultural transformation and sharing success stories from progressive beekeepers. ... |
