EJAC Vice President Farooq Khan Welcomes J&K CM Omar Abdullah’s Commitment to Address Daily-Wagers' Concerns

Srinagar, March 11 (Scoop News)- Mechanical Irrigation & Flood Control Employees Federation (MI&FCEF) Chairman and EJAC Vice President Farooq Ahmad Khan has welcomed J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s commitment to fulfilling election promises and addressing the long-pending issues of daily-wagers in Jammu & Kashmir.

Reacting to the CM’s announcement in the Assembly regarding the high-level committee led by the Chief Secretary to work out a roadmap for regularization, Khan expressed cautious optimism but stressed the need for time-bound action.

In a statement issued to the press, Farooq Khan said "Daily wagers, casual labourers, and seasonal employees have been toiling for years without job security. While we welcome the CM’s assurance, we urge that this committee functions with urgency and delivers concrete results. Thousands of families are waiting for justice."

He further emphasized that past governments have ignored this pressing issue, leaving these employees in financial distress despite their decades of service.

"Daily wagers are the backbone of essential services across all government departments in Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring public welfare despite difficult conditions. We expect the government to prioritize their regularization rather than delaying it with committee formations," Khan added.

He also met with Irrigation & Flood Control Kashmir Chief Engineer Er. Sanjeev Malhotra to discuss their concerns and seek necessary action on their demands.

Farooq Khan has also appeal to Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana and Chief Engineer I&FC Er. Sanjeev Malhotra to play a proactive role in resolving the concerns of Irrigation and Flood Control Department employees in their respective capacities.

Khan further urged all MLAs across party lines to support this cause and ensure that the voices of these employees are heard in the Assembly.

"This is not a political issue; it is about fairness and justice for thousands of workers who have served the people of J&K with dedication. We hope the government will honor its commitment without delay," he concluded.
