| World Theatre Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Leh | | 
Leh,March 29 (Scoop News)-Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Language, Leh, in collaboration with Ladakh Theatre Organisation (LTO), celebrated World Theatre Day with great enthusiasm at Lotsava Hall, Culture Academy, on March 27. H’CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional butter lamp, symbolizing wisdom and enlightenment.
The event featured captivating performances of Redal and Etok Lamo, showcasing the depth and vibrancy of Ladakh’s theatrical tradition.
Addressing the gathering, CEC Tashi Gyalson highlighted the transformative role of theatre in shaping individuals and society and mentioned that LAHDC, Leh with the support of UT Administration is constructing Culture Centre at the cost of 90Cr.
CEC Tashi Gyalson further commended LTO for delivering a powerful performance on World Theatre Day, using theatre as a platform to raise awareness about pressing social issues. He highlighted the importance of theatre as a medium, its cultural significance, and its engagement with audiences. He appreciated LTO President Mipham Otsal for his dedication to preserving Ladakh’s rich heritage.
LTO President Mipham Otsal expressed gratitude H’CEC and to all supporters and emphasized the role of theatre in nurturing Ladakh’s cultural and traditional heritage. He highlighted the need for encouragement and institutional support to inspire youth to embrace theatre, integrating it into their education. Theatre, he stated, broadens perspectives, enriches vocabulary, and enhances communication through diverse artistic expressions.
The event was graced by Dy.Chairman Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillors Tashi Namgyal Yakzee and Stanzin Chosphel, Hon’ble Councillors; Dy.Secretary Culture Tsewang Paljor; LBA Women Wing President Kunzes Dolma Jawo, Former MP Thupstan Chhewang innovator, education reformist Sonam Wangchuk, and various other dignitaries also attended the event.
