| 2nd Annual Mega Sports Meet 2025 Concluded at Goma Kargil | |
Goma Kargil, April 14 (Scoop News)-Pairwan-e-Wilayat successfully organized the 2nd Annual Mega Sports Meet at the scenic Goma Kargil Ground, marking a day of community unity, vibrant sportsmanship, and youth empowerment. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all mohallahs of the village and featured a series of competitive and recreational sports under the theme "Play with Heart, for Heart."
Councillor Town Haji Abbass Adulpa, was the Chief Guest on this occasion, while as Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil and Joint Director Information UT Ladakh, Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho, attended as the Guest of Honour.
The day-long event featured inter-mohallah competitions such as Tug of War and Lagori, along with individual athletic events including the 100m Race, Shotput, and Javelin Throw. Mohallahs including Gangshan, Yangti, Brokgroung, Yabgo, Hatoo, Hassan Abad, Medar, Gurba, Dox, and Zothpa actively participated, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Goma Kargil.
Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho, lauded the efforts of Pairwan-e-Wilayat in creating a platform that unites the community. He praised for carving out a sports ground from the mountain, envisioning that it would soon evolve into a full-fledged stadium. He also suggested replicating such initiatives with other areas of Kargil Town like Dass, Lankore, and Changchik, and recommended launching cultural events like a "Chuli Mendok" festival to showcase the natural beauty of Goma Kargil to the world.
On the occasion, Dr. Mohd Ali, representing Pairwan-e-Wilayat, presented a memorandum to the Chief Guest, demanding the expansion of the ground, installation of floodlights, security arrangements, a children's play area, and an ice hockey rink, among others.
In response, Haji Abbass Adulpa assured that the extension and development of the stadium has already been approved by the government, and other demands would be addressed step by step. He emphasized the importance of community support and unity, highlighting that past disputes have delayed developmental projects in Goma Kargil. He reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling all promises and urged residents to maintain harmony for smooth execution.
Further strengthening his commitment to youth development, Haji Abbass Adulpa announced plans to organize career counselling sessions for the youth of his constituency. “Our youth must be equipped with knowledge and direction. Through career counselling, they’ll better understand their goals and opportunities ahead,” he stated.
He further said that The 2nd Annual Mega Sports Meet 2025 stands as a shining example of unity through sports, and continues to inspire communities across Kargil to embrace fitness, collaboration, and a shared vision for growth.
As part of the closing ceremony, medals were awarded to winners of various events, and mementos were presented to media personnel, officials, and dignitaries.
Mohallah Gangshan emerged as the overall winner, securing victories in both Tug of War and Lagori.
