Congress condemns attack on senior journalist in Kathua in BJP press conference
Jammu, April 24 (Scoop News)- JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has strongly condemned the attack upon a senior journalist of Dainik Jagran Rakesh Sharma during the course of press conference of BJP MLAs at Kathua today.

The only crime of Rakesh Sharma was that he asked certain undesirable questions over the security situation in the wake of Pehalgam terror attack yesterday and series of terror attacks in various parts of Kathua district in the recent past. Now asking questions by journalists to the arrogant BJP senior leaders and MLAs is a great Sin and he was thrashed in full public view and was saved by some police officials,as explained by him in an interview while admitted in Kathua medical college.

What can be more unfortunate and condemnable that even a well known senior journalist of a national daily is not safe in full media presence besides police and public.

He has identified the known BJP leaders and the video recording of the incident is reflective of the gravity of the attack but no appropriate action seemed to have been taken ,so far whereas any other ordinary assailants would have been behind the bars, by now but for their political affiliation with BJP. Demanding stern legal action,Congress has asked BJP President J P Nadda to take action against the accused belonging to his party, if bjp has a little respect for the freedom of press and for dignity and respect for the media persons.
Mr Nadda should apologise too, to the journalist fraternity apart from appropriate legal action against the guilty as per law of land.

The journalist fraternity has our full support who should raise their voice against this incident and the growing attempts to silence the voice of media, which is direct attack on the freedom of press,he added.
