RDD Kargil commemorates National Panchayati Raj Day | |
Kargil, April 24 (Scoop News)- Rural Development Department Kargil today celebrated National Panchayati Raj Day (NPRD) with enthusiasm and insightful discussions.
The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil, Raziya Khatoon, HQA to DC/District Disaster Management Officer Kargil, Kaneez Fatima, BDO Kargil, Tsewang Wanchok, Executive Engineer, REW Kargil, Fiza Banoo and other officers and officials of the department.
The program commenced with a two-minute silence observed as a mark of solidarity with those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kaneez Fatima HQ to DC /DDMO Kargil, while addressing the gathering, underscored the critical role of the Panchayati Raj system in effective disaster management. Referring to recent natural disasters in Kargil, the importance of empowering local governance systems to address crises efficiently and build resilient communities was highlighted.
BDO Kargil, Tsewang Wanchok, delivered an in-depth lecture on Panchayati Raj Institution, elaborating on its structure, roles, and responsibilities in fostering grassroots development and governance.
A live streaming of the program, where Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Gram Sabhas across the country from Bihar’s Madhubani district, marking National Panchayati Raj Day, was also conducted.
ACD Kargil, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants for their active involvement. A call was made to renew the commitment to strengthening the Panchayati Raj system. It was emphasized that it is a collective responsibility to empower these institutions, ensure transparency, and involve every section of society, including women and youth, in decision-making processes.
All stakeholders were urged to work together to build resilient and self-reliant villages, making the Panchayati Raj System a true reflection of people's aspirations and a vehicle for sustainable development in Kargil, Ladakh, and the entire nation.
Similar programs were conducted in all blocks across the district, where awareness programs, cleanliness drives, and interactive sessions were organized to highlight the significance of the Panchayati Raj System.
Discussions focused on its responsibilities, disaster preparedness, and the role of collaborative efforts in addressing local challenges and fostering community development.
