Brahmpura writes to Punjab, Chandigarh Police Chiefs seeking protection for Kashmiri Students | Launches Helpline | Chandigarh/Srinagar,April 25 (Scoop News)- Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former MLA from Khadoor Sahib, today expressed deep concern regarding the safety of Kashmiri students studying in Punjab and UT Chandigarh following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Addressing this sensitive issue, he has written separate letters to the Directors General of Police (DGPs) of Punjab Police and UT Chandigarh Police, urging their immediate attention.
In his letters, Mr. Brahmpura emphasized that in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, some mischievous elements have reportedly begun targeting Kashmiri students. He stated that these students are facing discrimination, undue harassment, and distress. He further noted that attempts are being made to unjustly associate them with the unfortunate incident based on their religion or origin, which has created an atmosphere of fear and apprehension among the student community.
Brahmpura strongly urged both police chiefs to ensure immediate, robust, and foolproof security arrangements are put in place to safeguard the lives of of Kashmiri students residing in Punjab and Chandigarh. He also stressed the critical need to identify those individuals deliberately harassing these students and to take exemplary legal action against them. Such measures, he stated, are essential to prevent future occurrences and to uphold Punjab's cherished values of communal harmony and the spirit of universal well-being (Sarbat da Bhala).
