Union Budget 2026 is anti-people and Pro-Corporate; J&K once again ignored: Raman Bhalla
Jammu, February 01 (Scoop News)-JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla has strongly reacted to the Union Budget 2026, stating that the budget has once again exposed the BJP-led government’s misplaced priorities and its failure to address the real issues confronting the common people of the country. He said the budget is anti-poor, anti-youth, and pro-corporate, while Jammu & Kashmir has been completely ignored yet again.

In a statement issued today, Raman Bhalla said that the Union Budget 2026 offers no concrete roadmap to tackle rising unemployment, price rise, shrinking household incomes, and growing economic inequality, which remain the biggest challenges faced by the nation. He added that despite tall claims, the budget lacks meaningful interventions for job creation and relief to the middle class and weaker sections.

Bhalla said that Jammu & Kashmir stands deeply disappointed, as the budget has failed to address the region’s pressing concerns. “There is no special economic package, no roadmap for employment generation for youth, no revival plan for local industry, horticulture, tourism, or MSMEs, and no serious allocation for improving healthcare and education infrastructure in the Union Territory,” he remarked.

The JKPCC leader also expressed concern over the continued neglect of daily wagers, casual labourers, contractual employees, farmers, and small traders, stating that the budget has ignored their long-pending demands and provided no social security or income support measures in line with ground realities.

Raman Bhalla echoed the Indian National Congress’s criticism that the budget continues to favour big corporates through tax concessions and policy support, while the poor struggle with inflation, high GST on essential commodities, and declining purchasing power. He said that farmers have once again been let down, with no legal guarantee for MSP and no concrete measures to address rising input costs.

Highlighting the political and democratic concerns of the region, Bhalla said the budget is silent on the restoration of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir, which remains a core demand of the people. “Ignoring the aspirations of J&K year after year only deepens the sense of alienation and economic uncertainty,” he added.

He further criticized the government for presenting a budget filled with announcements and slogans, but lacking accountability and time-bound implementation. “This budget is more about optics than outcomes and fails to inspire confidence among the youth, women, and marginalized communities,” Bhalla said.

Concluding his statement, Raman Bhalla asserted that the Indian National Congress will continue to raise the voice of the people both inside and outside Parliament and will oppose policies that widen inequality and undermine federalism. “The people of Jammu & Kashmir deserved hope and healing from Union Budget 2026, but what they have received is yet another disappointment,” he said.
