| GDC Kakryal observes Safer Internet Day with awareness lecture on Cyber Safety | | Katra, February 10 (Scoop News)-An awareness lecture on the occasion of Safer Internet Day was organised at Government Degree College Kakryal, Katra, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, with the objective of promoting safe, responsible and ethical use of the internet among students. The programme was organised under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Dr. Rajni Bhagat. The programme was conducted in the college premises and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, NSS volunteers and faculty members.
The lecture aimed to create awareness about cyber safety, digital responsibility, online privacy, cyberbullying and safe social media practices, which are highly relevant in today’s digital age.
The resource person, Dr. Sajad Iqbal, HOD Department of Environmental Science delivered an informative and engaging lecture highlighting the risks associated with unsafe internet usage, such as data theft, cybercrime, fake news and online harassment. Students were guided on practical measures to ensure online safety including strong password practices, privacy settings, responsible sharing of information and respectful online behavior.
The session was interactive, with students actively participating through questions and discussions. The speaker emphasized the role of youth in creating a safe and positive digital environment and encouraged students to act as responsible digital citizens.
The programme was coordinated by the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Usha Sharma with active support from NSS volunteers who ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
Faculty members who were present during the event included Dr. Bilal and Dr. Ishfaq. The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, college administration, NSS unit and volunteers.
