ABVP Jammu Kashmir Demands Stakeholder Dialogue on Guest Faculty Policy at JU

Jammu, February 22 (Scoop News)-Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jammu Kashmir, has expressed serious concern over the proposed changes in the guest faculty appointment system at the University of Jammu.
“ABVP believes that any decision affecting the teaching community and students must be taken with transparency, fairness, and due consultation,” said ABVP, maintaining that teachers are the backbone of higher education, and policies impacting their service conditions, job security, and professional dignity should not be implemented without comprehensive stakeholder engagement.
ABVP opined that abrupt policy shifts risk creating uncertainty among faculty members and may adversely affect the academic environment and continuity of classes.
ABVP further emphasizes that far-flung and border campuses under the University are significantly dependent on Contractual faculty and any disruption in their engagement process could directly impact students in these regions, where access to higher education opportunities is already limited.
ABVP made it clear that it has consistently been in favor of regular and permanent recruitment of qualified faculty to strengthen the academic framework of the University. “Permanent appointments ensure stability, accountability, and long-term academic growth. However, until such permanent recruitment is undertaken, ABVP supports a fair and transparent system of engaging Contractual faculty to prevent any academic vacuum and safeguard students’ interests,” it added.
Sannak Shrivats, State Secretary of ABVP Jammu Kashmir appealed the Jammu University administration to immediately initiate a structured, meaningful, and time-bound dialogue with all stakeholders, including teachers’ representatives and student bodies. A transparent and consultative approach will help address apprehensions, ensure consensus-based decision-making, and uphold the dignity of the academic fraternity, he added.
The ABVP leader demanded a fair and transparent policy framework that safeguards the rights of existing teachers while ensuring quality education for students.
