Kargil,April 12 (Scoop News)-As part of the series of events held across the UT of Ladakh in connection with the ongoing Apricot Blossom Festival, 2026, Tourism Department Kargil curated a range of activities across the picturesque apricot belt of Karkitchoo, Chanigund, Hardass, Handurman, Kharoul, Shilikchey and adjoining villages here today.
Apricot Blossom Festival, 2026 showcasing the celebration of one of nature’s most enchanting season continues to captivate visitors with a vibrant fusion of natural beauty, cultural richness, and immersive tourism experiences.
Set against a breathtaking backdrop of blooming apricot orchards at Karkitchoo and adjoining villages, tourists were offered guided village walks, heritage trails, and scenic cycling rides, allowing them to deeply engage with the region’s pristine environment and living traditions.
The experience was further elevated through stalls showcasing handloom and handicraft products, apricot made food products and other local food products while interactive storytelling sessions by local elders and cultural interpreters offered insights into the history, folklore, and lifestyle of the region. For adventure seekers, soft adventure activities like nature hikes, short trekking routes, and riverside leisure experiences were also integrated into the day’s programme making it a wholesome offering for all categories of tourists.
Tourists were also taken on guided and heritage tours to the tourist attractions in the area including the Harka Bahadur War Memorial, Petroglyph Site and Sangam and Omachikthang Orchards near Kharoul, Handurman Heritage Village and Border View Point.
Visitors were enthralled by orchard picnics and blossom-viewing points where photography enthusiasts and nature lovers captured the fleeting magic of spring. Hands-on experiences such as traditional cooking demonstrations, and tasting sessions of apricot-based delicacies added a delightful sensory dimension to the festival during the day.
A noted influx of domestic as well as international tourists added to the festive vibrancy, with visitors expressing awe at the surreal beauty of the apricot bloom and the warm hospitality of the local communities.
On the occasion, Director Tourism Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, along with Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Muhammad Ali Tak and other officials actively interacted with visiting tourists, travel trade stakeholders, social media influencers, and vloggers. They urged them to widely promote the apricot blossom season of Ladakh across national and international platforms, highlighting Kargil as a unique springtime destination offering authentic and immersive experiences.
Members of travel trade associations, representatives of travel agencies, and volunteers were felicitated in recognition of their valuable contribution towards tourism promotion and dedicated efforts in bringing tourists to Kargil and strengthening Ladakh’s tourism profile.
The Apricot Blossom Festival stands as a vibrant testament to Ladakh’s growing prominence on the tourism map where nature, culture, adventure, and community participation converge to offer visitors an unforgettable springtime experience in the lap of the Himalayas.
