UT Administration conducts Dry Run for Arrival
Reception and Motorcade of Holy Relics of Tathagata Buddha


Leh, April 27 (Scoop News)- In preparation for the forthcoming Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of Tathagata Buddha, scheduled to be held from 1st to 15th May, 2026, the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh today conducted a comprehensive dry run for the arrival, reception, and motorcade procession of the Holy Relics.

The dry run, proposed and coordinated by the Ladakh Police, was carried out at the Technical Airport/Air Force Station, Leh, and covered all critical aspects of the ceremonial and logistical arrangements. The exercise was conducted in full simulation mode to ensure seamless coordination among all stakeholders involved in the event.

The sequence of activities rehearsed during the dry run included the arrival of the Holy Relics, ceremonial reception, guard of honour, veneration at the designated lounge, boarding protocols, and the commencement of the motorcade procession. The movement of the motorcade from the airport to Jivetsal was also simulated, followed by the final handover of the Holy Relics to the designated strong room at the venue.

The exercise aimed to assess preparedness, streamline coordination among departments, and identify any gaps in planning to ensure the smooth conduct of the actual event. Special emphasis was placed on security arrangements, ceremonial protocol, route management, and inter-departmental coordination.

The dry run was attended by senior officials including the Administrative Secretary Tourism & Culture, Deputy Commissioner Leh, SSP Security, Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh, representatives of Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), medical officers, engineers, and other concerned officials.

The UT Administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all arrangements for the Sacred Relics Exposition are conducted in a well-coordinated, secure, and befitting manner, reflecting the spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion
