Rattan Lal Welcomes Calls for Resumption of Peace Talks With Pakistan

Jammu, May 15 (Scoop News)-The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, has welcomed the recent remarks of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale advocating dialogue with Pakistan, asserting that people living along the LoC and IB across Jammu and Kashmir would be the biggest beneficiaries of peace.

While interacting with a public delegation from Udhampur, headed by Anyatullah District President Udhampur Rural OBC Cell. Gupta said that the National Conference has always been a strong votary of peace and sustained dialogue between India and Pakistan. He maintained that the dividends of friendship between the two neighbouring countries are most meaningfully reaped by the people residing along the LoC and IB in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said continued hostilities along the borders disrupt peace and tranquility in border areas, forcing residents to migrate temporarily and suffer losses to their crops and livestock.

Gupta observed that the call for peace and continued engagement from RSS quarters vindicates the vision of Farooq Abdullah, who has consistently advocated for reducing hostilities and maintaining sustained dialogue between the two nations. Referring to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said, “Neighbours cannot be changed, but friendship can be fostered.”

He expressed hope that the Union Government would take note of the advice emerging from RSS leadership and work towards reopening channels of dialogue with Pakistan. Gupta, however, added that it is equally incumbent upon Pakistan to reciprocate such peace overtures with sincerity and address India’s concerns regarding terrorism.

Others who were present in the meeting included:- Bushan Lal Bhat former MLC, Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary Jammu, Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell, and other party functionaries of Udhampur District OBC Cell were also present.
