| Director, Social & Tribal Welfare Ladakh Conducts Surprise Inspection of Anganwadi Centres | | Kargil, June 15 (Scoop News)-The Director, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Dr. Zahida Banoo (JKAS), undertook a surprise inspection of various Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) across District Kargil to review their functioning and assess the effectiveness of service delivery under the Department's welfare and nutrition programmes.
During the inspection, Dr. Zahida Banoo reviewed the overall functioning of the centres with a special focus on infrastructure, supplementary nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, and the availability of essential facilities for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The inspection aimed to evaluate the implementation of welfare and nutrition programmes under Mission Poshan and to ensure adherence to prescribed operational guidelines.
Interacting with Anganwadi Workers and field functionaries, Dr. Zahida Banoo emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, regular attendance, and timely delivery of services to beneficiaries. She directed all Anganwadi Workers to operate and maintain the centres strictly in accordance with the guidelines of Mission Poshan and other relevant Government programmes to ensure quality service delivery and optimal outcomes for children and mothers.
Dr. Zahida Banoo also instructed the concerned Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and Supervisors to undertake regular monitoring visits and strengthen supervisory mechanisms to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective implementation of the schemes at the grassroots level.
The inspection was accompanied by the Accounts Officer, Statistical Officer (Planning Section), Project Associate, State Project Management Unit (SPMU), and Financial Analyst, State Project Management Unit (SPMU), Directorate of Social & Tribal Welfare, Ladakh.
During the inspection, strict instructions were issued to ensure timely and accurate reporting of beneficiary data on the Poshan Tracker on a daily basis, reflecting the actual beneficiaries available on the ground. Emphasis was laid on the timely distribution of Hot Cooked Meals (HCM) and Take Home Rations (THR), along with the mandatory use of the Face Recognition System (FRS) for beneficiary authentication as per Government guidelines.
The Director further directed all field functionaries to ensure the proper utilization of Growth Monitoring Devices (GMDs) for regular assessment of the nutritional status of children, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. She stressed the importance of accurate growth monitoring, timely identification of malnourished children, and appropriate follow-up interventions.
Additionally, strict instructions were issued for the timely identification and registration of all eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to ensure that eligible pregnant and lactating mothers receive the benefits of the scheme without delay.
The Director reiterated the Department's commitment to strengthening service delivery at Anganwadi Centres and ensuring that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries effectively and transparently. ... |
