| Kargil Gears Up for International Yoga Day; DC Reviews Preparations | |
Kargil, June 16 (Scoop News)-Deputy Commissioner /CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to review preparations for the observance of International Yoga Day 2026, scheduled to be held at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Bemathang on June 21.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding participant mobilization, venue management, publicity, logistics, and inter-departmental coordination. It was informed that around 900 yoga mats have been arranged for the event.
The Deputy Commissioner suggested increasing the participation target from 900 to nearly 1,000 participants and directed all concerned departments to ensure maximum participation from schools, degree colleges, government offices, NGOs, Panchayat Halqas, and other stakeholders.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Education Officer to ensure the participation of students from all Higher Secondary Schools in uniform. Degree Colleges were also asked to mobilize students in large numbers. Participation of government employees was stressed, while representatives from the Drug De-Addiction Centre, NGOs, and members of the public were also encouraged to take part in the programme. All SDMs and Executive Magistrates were instructed to coordinate and facilitate arrangements in their respective jurisdictions.
The PHE Department was directed to ensure the availability of drinking water at the venue, while concerned agencies were instructed to maintain cleanliness in and around the event area.
The Deputy Commissioner further suggested that a plantation drive be conducted after the Yoga Day programme as part of efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
The meeting was attended by officers and representatives of various departments and organizations associated with the event.
