DC Drass Conducts Extensive Tour of Shimsha and Kharboo, Engages with Citizens


Drass, June 17 (Scoop News)-Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho today conducted an extensive tour of Shimsha and Kharboo villages of the District to assess developmental requirements, review the status of public service delivery and interact directly with local residents regarding their grievances and developmental aspirations.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Drass, Vishal Atri (JKAS); along with District and Sectoral Officers including Block Development Officer, Bhimbat, Shahid Sultan; Block Veterinary Officer, Dr. Ameen Naqvi; Agriculture Extension Officer, Stanzin Idong; Zonal Education Officer, Mohammad Ibrahim; Assistant Executive Engineer, PW(R&B), Zakir Hussain; Assistant Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mamjaz Hassan; Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD, Mohammad Ali; Tehsil Supply Officer, Bhimbat, Mohammad Syed Mir; representative of Block Medical Officer, Drass and other officials.

During the visit to Shimsha, the Deputy Commissioner held a public interaction at the Panchayat Ghar where local residents welcomed the visiting Officers and projected various developmental issues and public concerns. The residents highlighted demands related to road connectivity, augmentation of drinking water supply, improvement of public infrastructure and other essential services. They specifically highlighted the poor quality of the ongoing work on the various limbs of the link road in the village as well as the slow pace of work on the bridge. The Deputy Commissioner listened to all grievances, discussed them with the Officers present passed instructions for early resolution and necessary action.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected public assets, including the Middle School, and reviewed the status of ongoing developmental works in the Shimsha particularly the link road project and the bridge site as well as the lift irrigation project site. While emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts among line departments, he directed the Officers to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes and developmental projects for the benefit of the local population.

Later on, the Deputy Commissioner visited Kharboo village where the residents welcomed him and the Officers at the Panchayat Ghar. The public representatives informed the Deputy Commissioner about the various issues of the village as well as their developmental aspirations. During the interaction, the residents reiterated concerns regarding road connectivity, drinking water supply and other civic amenities in the area. The issues pertaining to all Departments were discussed threadbare and on-spot instructions were passed for early resolution and intervention. He also visited the Public Health Centre and interacted with the doctor and staff about the need for keeping the centre fully functional. He then inspected the infrastructure while taking stock of the availability of medicines. He also paid a visit to the Primary School in Kharboo and interacted with staff and students. He was informed about the infrastructural requirements.

Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various roads of the village and discussed issues with the residents before visiting the Government High School. He took note of the fact that village needs proper road connectivity. He interacted with the school administration, teaching staff and students. He appreciated that the school’s infrastructure is being maintained well and that the students are being provided a conducive environment and opportunities for their holistic development.

Throughout the tour, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the District Administration towards ensuring accessible governance, responsive public service delivery and inclusive development. He assured the residents that their concerns would receive due attention and that developmental initiatives would continue to be pursued in a coordinated and time-bound manner.

The local residents expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and accompanying officers for visiting their villages and engaging directly with the public. They appreciated the administration’s outreach efforts and expressed hope that such interactions would continue in the future for effective resolution of local issues and accelerated development of the area.
