13 July 1931: A Black Chapter That Empowered Separatism and Weakened National Unity in J&K: Pawan

Jammu, July 13 (Scoop News)-BJP State Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, Pawan Sharma today termed 13 July 1931 as one of the darkest and most unfortunate chapters in the history of Jammu & Kashmir, asserting that the political narrative built around those events ultimately became the breeding ground for separatism, appeasement, and anti-India forces in the region.

Sharma said that for decades, successive political parties deliberately distorted history and glorified a narrative that divided society on communal lines and weakened the bonds of national unity. Instead of strengthening democracy and development, these forces nurtured a politics of victimhood, separatism, and exclusivism that pushed Jammu & Kashmir towards instability, terrorism, radicalization, and bloodshed.

He stated that the consequences of this dangerous political mindset were witnessed in the tragic exodus of Kashmiri Hindus, the loss of thousands of innocent lives, repeated attacks on the sovereignty of India, and decades of suffering endured by the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

"Those who continue to romanticize or glorify the events of 13 July 1931 must answer whether the politics that emerged from that period brought peace, prosperity, and progress to Jammu & Kashmir, or whether it led to decades of terrorism, separatist violence, and destruction," Sharma said.

The BJP leader accused regional political parties of exploiting historical events for vote-bank politics while remaining silent on the pain of terrorism victims, displaced communities, and families of security personnel who sacrificed their lives defending the nation.

Sharma said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir have now decisively rejected the politics of division and appeasement. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a new era of peace, development, accountability, and national integration has emerged in the Union Territory.

He asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 dismantled the ecosystem that had long thrived on separatist sentiments and political exploitation. Today, Jammu & Kashmir is moving forward with unprecedented infrastructure development, investment, youth empowerment, and strengthened democratic institutions.

Pawan Sharma called upon the youth to remain vigilant against attempts to revive divisive narratives under the guise of historical remembrance. "The future of Jammu & Kashmir lies not in glorifying a divisive past but in embracing nationalism, development, and the vision of a strong and united India. Every ideology that seeks to undermine India's unity and integrity must be politically, socially, and democratically defeated," he declared.

He reiterated that the BJP remains committed to building a terrorism-free, separatism-free, corruption-free, and discrimination-free Jammu & Kashmir where every citizen enjoys equal opportunities and participates in the journey towards a developed India.
