Police Seizes Illicit Liquor, 01 Booked Under Excise Act In Anantnag

Srinagar, July 13 (Scoop News)- Continuing its drive against illegal activities, police in Anantnag recovered illicit liquor during routine naka checking and registered a case under the Excise Act.

A police party from Police Post Sherbagh, while conducting routine checking at Lazibal, intercepted an i10 vehicle bearing registration number PB13AN9357. The vehicle was being driven by Dhanwant Singh, son of Sardar Ajeet Singh, resident of Amritsar, Punjab, presently residing at Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar. During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 14 bottles of liquor, comprising 12 bottles of Old Adventure and 2 bottles of Royal Stag, each containing 750 ml.

During questioning, the driver failed to produce any valid licence or permit authorising the possession or transportation of the recovered liquor.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 236/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and further investigation is underway.
