Ganderbal,July 13 (Scoop News)-The Private Schools' Association (PSA) successfully conducted its District Elections in Ganderbal through a transparent, constitutional and democratic process, marking another significant milestone in strengthening the Association's organisational structure across Jammu & Kashmir. The elections witnessed an overwhelming participation of private schools from across the district, reflecting the growing unity, confidence and democratic spirit within the private education sector. The election process was conducted under the supervision of District Election Commissioner Mehraj-ud-Din Bhat, while B.A. Shah served as the Election Observer, ensuring free, fair and transparent electoral process.
The programme was attended by NISA Joint Secretary & PSA Chief Patron Dr. G.N. Var, DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Dr. Umar Urfan, PSA President Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Former Joint Director, School Education Department Mehboob Hussain, Senior Trade Union Leader & J&K Civil Society Executive Member Mir Fayaz, General Secretary (Organisation) Mohammad Syed Wani, Treasurer & District President Shopian Hilal Ahmad Khan, Director Media & Communications and District President Budgam Dr. Owais Mattoo, District President Kulgam Dr. Waseem Siddiqui, District President Srinagar Aadil Habib, District President Bandipora Dr. Yasir Ramzan Bhat, District President Kupwara Tanveer Ahmad Lone, Vice President Kupwara Altaf Hussain Shah, besides school heads and edu leaders.
Following the completion of the electoral process, Sheikh Javaid Ali was unanimously elected as the District President, while Mohammad Shafi Mir was elected as Vice President. The elected Zonal Presidents include Ishfaq Ahmad Khan (Ganderbal), Mehraj-ud-Din Bhat (Tullamulla), Abdul Rashid Parray (Kangan) and Ashiq Hussain (Hariganwan).
NISA Joint Secretary and PSA Chief Patron, Dr. G.N. Var, said "Today's elections in Ganderbal mark a historic milestone in the journey of the Private Schools' Association. For the first time in nearly seventeen years, the Association has conducted transparent and democratic elections at the grassroots level. I am delighted that more than 95 per cent of private schools participated in this process, reflecting the trust, unity and credibility of the Association. These elections were held in a completely peaceful, dignified and transparent manner, without unnecessary confrontation, setting a benchmark for institutional democracy."
Responding to a question about another association operating in the district, Dr. Var said the Private Schools' Association is the only duly registered body representing private schools. "Our invitation to participate in the democratic process open to all. Our mission is not division but unity. We believe every private school should come together under one registered, credible and constitutional platform, because unity is our greatest strength. Only a united Association can effectively safeguard the interests of private schools and contribute meaningfully to educational reforms and the welfare of students across Jammu & Kashmir."
He added that district-level elections are now nearing completion and the Association will soon elect its Central Apex Body to further strengthen democratic governance, institutional transparency and collective leadership across Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr. Umar Urfan, DySP Headquarters Ganderbal, said "Despite my official engagements, I felt it important to attend this programme because education is one of the noblest investments in society. The moment I learned about this gathering of private schools, I made every effort to be present. If given the opportunity, I would have loved to establish a school myself, because shaping young minds and contributing to education is among the greatest services one can render to society. I sincerely appreciate the invaluable role private schools are playing in nurturing future generations and wish the schools continued success in its mission."
Bilal Ahmad Bhat President, Private Schools' Association said "Private schools are indispensable partners in strengthening the education system and have consistently worked alongside the Government in shaping the future of our children. Our mission extends beyond academics, we must prepare students to compete confidently at national and global levels through quality education, trained teachers and modern learning practices. While embracing AI and emerging technologies, we must never allow technology to replace humans. Our foremost responsibility is to nurture compassionate, value-driven and responsible citizens before producing professionals."
Mehboob Hussain Former Joint Director, School Education Department said "Government and private schools share one common mission to build the future of our children. Educational excellence must be complemented by skill development, strong values and continuous attention to students' mental health and overall well-being."
Mohammad Syed Wani General Secretary (Organisation), PSA said "Strong organisations are built through strong grassroots leadership. Together we will strengthen every district, empower teachers through continuous training and work collectively to promote child-centred, quality education across Jammu & Kashmir."
Sheikh Javaid Ali Newly Elected District President, PSA Ganderbal, said, "I sincerely thank every private school in Ganderbal for reposing their trust and confidence in me through this democratic mandate. My foremost priority will be to unite every private school under one strong platform because unity is our greatest strength. We will work collectively to implement the competency-based vision of the National Education Policy, encourage educational innovation and ensure that our schools remain committed to quality, child-centred and future-oriented education."
Mir Fayaz Senior Trade Union Leader & Executive Member, J&K Civil Society Forum said "Today's transparent election reflects the strength of democracy, institutional values and collective leadership. A united education sector is essential for building a stronger and more progressive society."
Hilal Ahmad Khan Treasurer, PSA & District President Shopian said "The successful democratic elections in Ganderbal further strengthen the organisational foundation of the Association. Together, we will continue working for the welfare of private schools and quality education."
Dr. Owais Mattoo District President Budgam & Director Media & Communications, said, "Transparent elections reinforce trust, accountability and unity. Today's successful process reflects the maturity of the Association and our collective commitment to strengthening private education through democratic values."
Dr. Waseem Siddiqui District President Kulgam, said, "The Association's democratic journey is creating stronger leadership at the grassroots level. United leadership and shared responsibility will enable us to address educational challenges more effectively."
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by B.A. Shah Election Observer, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to all special guests, school leaders and members who ensured the successful conduct of today's elections with remarkable discipline, dignity and democratic spirit. I congratulate the newly elected office-bearers and appreciate every participating school for strengthening the Association through unity, transparency and mutual respect. I also thank the Election Commission, organising team and distinguished guests for making this historic democratic exercise a grand success."
