| JKAACL pays tribute to eminent Punjabi Writers at Seminar in Srinagar | |
Srinagar, August 05 (Scoop News)-The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organised a One-Day Punjabi Seminar at the Conference Hall, Tagore Hall, Srinagar, to pay tribute to six eminent deceased Punjabi writers of Jammu & Kashmir whose remarkable literary contributions have significantly enriched Punjabi language and literature.
The programme commenced with a two-minute silence to mourn the sad demise of S. Niranjan Singh, Principal, Gamraj, Tral, a respected educationist. The participants paid heartfelt tributes and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
The dignitaries present on the dais included Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL; Lal Chand, Additional Secretary, JKAACL; Ajit Singh Mastana; Dr. Sukhvinder Singh; Dalbir Singh Sodhi; and Popinder Singh Paras, Senior Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi.
The seminar commemorated the literary legacy of Kanwal Kashmiri, Saran Singh, Ichhupal, Harmohinder Singh Harji, Mohinder Singh Rikhi and R. S. Bali. Scholarly papers on their lives, works and literary contributions were presented by Rattan Singh Kanwal, Mangat Singh Jugnu, R. S. Rajan, Dr. Sukhvinder Singh, Dr. Satwant Singh and Joginder Singh Shan. The speakers highlighted the invaluable contribution of these distinguished writers to Punjabi literature and their lasting relevance in the literary and cultural landscape of Jammu & Kashmir.
In her welcome address, Harvinder Kour emphasised the need to preserve, promote and strengthen Punjabi language and literature. She called upon Punjabi literary organisations, Khalsa Schools and cultural institutions to work collectively towards the growth and development of Punjabi language and its rich literary heritage.
Ajit Singh Mastana delivered the keynote address and highlighted the literary legacy and contribution of the writers being commemorated.
Dalbir Singh Sodhi delivered a special lecture on the seminar theme, while Dr. Sukhvinder Singh spoke in detail about the literary contribution of R. S. Bali and appreciated the Academy's efforts in organising meaningful programmes aimed at preserving and promoting Punjabi literary heritage.
The latest issues of the Academy's prestigious Punjabi journal, Sheeraza Punjabi, were also released on the occasion, marking another important initiative towards the promotion and dissemination of Punjabi literature and providing a platform to writers, poets, scholars and researchers.
The event was attended by eminent writers, scholars, researchers, students, literary enthusiasts, family members of the deceased writers and officers and officials of the Academy. An interactive discussion followed the scholarly presentations, during which participants exchanged views on the literary contributions and contemporary relevance of the writers.
The Additional Secretary, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, speakers, scholars, participants, family members of the deceased writers and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the seminar.
The Academy reiterated its commitment to preserving the rich literary heritage of Jammu & Kashmir and creating meaningful platforms for literary discourse, scholarly engagement and promotion of Punjabi language and literature.
