Mehbooba Mufti Visits Flood-Affected Areas of Rajouri
Demands Immediate Relief and Government Job for Family of Missing Abdul Ghani


Rajouri,August 16 (Scoop News)-President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, today visited various flood-affected areas of Rajouri district and interacted with victims and families affected by the recent flash floods and cloudburst.

During her visit, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti expressed deep concern over the extensive damage caused by the floods. She said that residential houses, agricultural land and business establishments have suffered severe damage, leaving numerous families in distress. She also expressed anguish over the loss of lives caused by the cloudburst and flash floods.

Interacting with the affected people, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti was informed that many victims have, so far, not received meaningful assistance from the Government. The affected families urged the Government to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation assistance, stating that they are facing immense difficulties in rebuilding their homes, restoring their livelihoods and resuming agricultural activities.

Ms. Mehbooba Mufti said that the Government must treat the situation with utmost seriousness and immediately reach out to affected families with adequate relief and rehabilitation measures. She emphasized that victims should not be left to fend for themselves during this difficult period.

Talking to the media, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti called upon the Government to focus on the urgent problems being faced by flood victims and ensure the immediate disbursement of relief and compensation to all those who have suffered losses.

She also made a special appeal to the Government to provide a government job to a member of the family of Abdul Ghani, a resident of Alal Mangota, whose body has reportedly not yet been recovered following the flash floods. She said the family deserves special consideration and immediate support from the Government in view of their immense loss and continuing uncertainty.

Ms. Mehbooba Mufti further demanded adequate assistance and compensation for all the worst-affected families in Rajouri district, particularly those who have lost their homes, agricultural land, businesses and sources of livelihood.

She urged the Government to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the losses caused by the flash floods and ensure that relief reaches every affected family without delay.

During the visit, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti was accompanied by several senior leaders and functionaries of the People’s Democratic Party, including Former Minister Abdul Haq Khan; Former Legislators Advocate M.R. Qureshi and Advocate Qamar Hussain Choudhary; District President Anjum Mirza; Party Spokesperson Advocate Shokat Ali Khizri; Tahir Lone; Maqsood Khan; Asif Iqbal Choudhary; Rashid Khan; Guftar Choudhary; Farooq Inqulabi; Khurshid Tantary; Saleem Naaz Mughal; and Liaquit Ali, among other party leaders and workers.

The PDP leaders also interacted with affected families and assured them that their genuine concerns and demands would be raised with the concerned authorities at the appropriate level.
