‘Digital Self-Reliance’ and ‘Data Sovereignty’ Will Make India a Developed Nation: Naresh Charak

Jammu, August 18 (Scoop News)-Naresh Charak, Convenor of the Industry Cell, Bharatiya Janata Party (R.S. Pura–Jammu South), emphasized the need for India to develop indigenous technology, local servers and its own social media platforms, stating that the country must now seriously focus on “Digital Self-Reliance” and “Data Sovereignty.”Charak highlighted that major technology companies such as Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) are operated from the United States, while many of their top executives and thousands of skilled engineers are Indians. He said that when the talent and capabilities belong to India, the platforms and servers should also be developed and operated within the country. He further stated that realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) requires the creation of a strong and self-reliant domestic technology ecosystem. While the Government of India has been encouraging “Made in India” applications and domestic data centres, Charak said that developing a world-class indigenous social media ecosystem is the need of the hour.He added that such an ecosystem would not only strengthen India’s data security and digital sovereignty, but could also provide a significant boost to the country’s economy, innovation ecosystem and employment opportunities.
