| World Senior Citizen Day Observed at Bahu Fort Shelter Home | | Free Health Check-Up and Aadhaar Enrollment Camps Organized |
Jammu, August 21 (Scoop News)-On the occasion of World Senior Citizen Day, the District Social Welfare Department, Jammu, in collaboration with Samvedna Society (NGO), organized a special programme at the Shelter Home for Urban Homeless, Bahu Fort, Jammu, with a focus on the health, welfare and dignity of senior citizens and other residents of the shelter home.
As part of the programme, a Free Eye Screening & General Health Check-Up Camp and an Aadhaar Enrollment Camp were organized by Social Activist and Chairman, Samvedna Society, Keshav Chopra. The health camp was organized in collaboration with K.D. Multispeciality Hospital, Jammu, with the medical team headed by Dr. J.P. Singh.
The programme was inaugurated by Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Shri Rajneet Singh, JKAS, along with District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu, Dr. Preeti Sharma, JKAS.
During the health camp, residents of the Shelter Home underwent free eye screening and general health check-ups, while free medicines were also provided to those in need. The Aadhaar Enrollment Camp was organized to facilitate residents in obtaining Aadhaar cards, enabling them to access various government welfare schemes and benefits.
On the occasion, senior citizens and residents of the Shelter Home were felicitated by the dignitaries by presenting shawls as a mark of respect and honour. Essential items were also provided to the residents according to their requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Shri Rajneet Singh, JKAS, appreciated the efforts of Samvedna Society and other NGOs engaged in social welfare activities. He emphasized the need to respect, care for and support senior citizens and elderly people, and assured that the Social Welfare Department would continue extending all possible support to such humanitarian initiatives.
Dr. Preeti Sharma, JKAS, District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu, also appreciated the efforts of Samvedna Society and Chairman Keshav Chopra for organizing the programme. She said that the Social Welfare Department is committed to reaching out to people in need and ensuring that welfare services and government schemes reach the deserving sections of society. She added that such collaborative programmes would continue in the future for the benefit of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Chopra, Social Activist and Chairman, Samvedna Society, said that serving society and reaching out to needy and vulnerable people remains the organization's priority, He said, “Samvedna Society has always remained committed to serving humanity. We will continue organizing free health camps, Aadhaar camps and other welfare initiatives so that people in need can receive healthcare, medicines and assistance. I sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the District Social Welfare Department and the entire team of Dr. Preeti Sharma Ji for their dedicated efforts towards public welfare.”
Veena Bakshi, President, Shelter Home, and Former Councillor Sham Lal Basson expressed their gratitude to the dignitaries, District Social Welfare Department, Samvedna Society, medical team, Aadhaar team and all those who contributed to making the programme successful.
