| GDC Zanskar Students Excel at Ladakh Sports Festival 2026, Win Silver Medals | |
Zanskar, September 06 (Scoop News)-Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar, Stanzin Zomskit and Chunith Zangmo secured silver medals in the Inter-District Athletics competitions held on September 5 and 6 at Astro Turf Ground, Khel Gaon Kurbathang, Kargil, as part of the Ladakh Sports Festival 2026.
Stanzin Zomskit, 5th Semester, secured 2nd position in the Girls' 1500m with a timing of 6:47.91, while Chunith Zangmo, 5th Semester, secured 2nd position in the Girls' 10000m. These athletes from GDC Zanskar also participated in the 200m sprint, putting up spirited performances against strong competitors.
Principal, GDC Zanskar, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, congratulated the students for their outstanding performances and appreciated their dedication, discipline and sporting spirit. He also noted that such achievements reflect the talent and potential of the students of GDC Zanskar.
The principal reiterated the college's commitment to promoting sports and physical fitness as an integral part of holistic education. Dr. Hussain Ali, Director of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Zanskar, also lauded the athletes and acknowledged their hard work and perseverance.
The two-day athletics meet, organized in connection with National Sports Day, witnessed participation from teams representing all seven districts of Ladakh. The Ladakh Sports Festival and Youth Engagement Month aims to promote sports, healthy lifestyles and constructive youth engagement.
