Doda, September 07 (Scoop News)- An awareness programme, under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCBVI) and as part of the ongoing 41st National Fortnight on Eye Donation, was organized today here at Government ANMT School.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma and attended by Senior Ophthalmologist, GMC, Dr. Farooq Runyal, Principal ANMT School and other staff members of CMO Office.

During the awareness programme, Dr. Farooq Runyal educated the students and staff about the importance of eye donation and encouraged people to come forward and pledge their eyes after death. He explained that eye donation is a noble act through which an individual can help restore the gift of sight to persons suffering from corneal blindness.

Speaking on the occasion, the CMO said that eye donation is one of the noblest forms of service to humanity as it can give someone the precious gift of sight even after a person’s death. He urged the students, staff and the general public to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding eye donation and spread awareness about this noble cause.

In a significant gesture, Dr. Vinod Sharma formally announced to donate his eyes after death, setting an inspiring example for others and emphasizing that a person can continue to serve humanity even after life.

The CMO further appealed to people to discuss eye donation with their families and motivate eligible individuals to take a pledge for this noble cause. He emphasized that collective efforts and increased public awareness can help reduce avoidable blindness and bring hope to those waiting for the gift of sight.

The participants were urged to spread awareness about eye donation among their families, friends and communities and motivate more people to come forward and take a pledge for eye donation.
