| Panun Kashmir appeals to Displaced Employees and Community to Observe Balidhan Diwas on September 14 | |
Jammu, September 08 (Scoop News)- Panun Kashmir has appealed to all displaced employees from the Kashmiri
Pandit community to avail one day of casual leave on September 14, 2026, and participate in the observance of Balidhan Diwas at Manhas Ground, Paloura, Jammu, at 10:00 a.m. to pay homage to the martyrs of the Kashmiri Pandit community and the brave personnel of the security forces who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The organisation has also appealed to members of the community who are required to perform Pann on September 14 to complete the ritual by 9:00 a.m., so that they can join the Balidhan Diwas programme at Manhas Ground and collectively pay their respects to the martyrs.
Panun Kashmir General Secretary Kuldeep Raina said that Balidhan Diwas is not merely an annual observance but an occasion to remember the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the survival, dignity and continuity of the Kashmiri Pandit community, as well as those security personnel who made the supreme sacrifice defending the people and the nation.
Raina said Panun Kashmir already in correspondence with the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Secretary and the Relief Commissioner seeking the grant of one day Special Casual Leave to displaced employees to enable them to participate in the solemn observance.
"We have requested the administration to facilitate the participation of displaced employees in Balidhan Diwas by granting one day Special Casual Leave. Their participation is important because remembrance of our martyrs must not remain confined to a ceremony, it must become a collective expression of the community's gratitude and resolve," Raina said.
He appealed to employees who may not be covered by the proposed Special Casual Leave to voluntarily avail one day of their available casual leave and join the programme.
Panun Kashmir Organising Secretary Behari Lal Kaul said the community's participation would give Balidhan Diwas the dignity and solemnity that the sacrifices of the martyrs deserve.
Kaul appealed to community members to organise their personal and religious obligations in a manner that enables them to reach Manhas Ground by 10:00 a.m. "Those who have to perform Pann on that day are requested to complete the ritual by 9:00 a.m. and thereafter proceed to Manhas Ground. We want the entire community to stand together in remembrance of our martyrs," he said.
He further appealed to displaced employees, youth, women, senior citizens and all sections of the Kashmiri Pandit community to participate in the observance in large numbers.
Panun Kashmir said that the presence of the community at Balidhan Diwas would reaffirm its collective commitment to preserving the memory of the martyrs and ensuring that their sacrifices remain an enduring part of the community's historical consciousness.
The organisation reiterated that September 14 is a day of remembrance, collective mourning and solemn resolve, and called upon the displaced community to assemble at Manhas Ground, Paloura, at 10:00 a.m. on September 14, 2026, to pay collective tributes to the martyrs.
