| Chief Secretary flags off 5-KM ‘Run for Fun’ as part of Ladakh Marathon | |
Leh, September 12 (Scoop News)-Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, today flagged off the 5-km ‘Run for Fun’ from Martyrs’ Chowk, Leh, as part of the 13th edition of the Ladakh Marathon 2026. Around 1,334 participants took part in the run, including students from various schools, government officials, runners across India and abroad and, notably, specially-abled participants.
The run covered the route from NDS Stadium, Leh, to Mentokling Motors and back to NDS Stadium.
The Ladakh Marathon has been gaining popularity not only in Ladakh but also across the country and internationally, owing to its distinctive high-altitude endurance events. The marathon has been organised annually for several years, with this year marking its 13th edition. The four-day event is being held from September 10 to 13.
As part of the event, the Silk Route Ultra commenced on September 10 from Kyagar village in Nubra and concluded at Leh Market. A total of 118 participants took part in the Silk Route Ultra.
The Khardung La Challenge was conducted on September 11. It commenced from Khardung village and concluded at Leh Market, with a total of 359 participants taking part in the challenge.
The Ladakh Marathon as one of the world’s high-altitude endurance running events not only promote running and fitness, the marathon has emerged as an important platform for showcasing Ladakh’s unique landscape, culture and spirit of resilience to a global audience.
Apprenticeship Mela held at Government Polytechnic College Reasi

REASI, SEPTEMBER 12, 2026 – Jammu, Srinagar, September 12 (Scoop News)- In a major push toward youth empowerment and skill development, a grand Apprenticeship Mela was successfully organized today at the Government Polytechnic College Reasi, in active collaboration with the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Reasi under the directions and guidance of J&K Skill Development Department and District Administration Reasi. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, drawing more than 500 aspiring candidates from across the region looking to kickstart their professional careers.The primary objective of the Mela was to bridge the gap between local youth and the industry, bridging technical education with real-world employment opportunities. A central focus of the event was raising awareness about the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) 2.0, ensuring students know how to leverage government platforms for career growth. The event was graced by Sh. Krishan Lal (ADDC Reasi) who highlighted the government's commitment to reducing unemployment and urged the youth to maximize the benefits of such interactive industry platforms and register for NAPS 2.O scheme. Sh. Satyawan (General Manager, NHPC) emphasized the growing demand for skilled technical hands in major public and private sector projects. Dr. Arun Bangotra (Principal, Government Polytechnic College Reasi) welcomed the guests and stated that the college remains dedicated to providing practical, industry-aligned exposure to its students. Er. Rajesh Banotra (Superintendent, ITI Reasi) spoke on the structural benefits of apprenticeship training in transforming students into industry-ready professionals. To ensure the candidates could seamlessly navigate the regulatory onboarding, a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on the NAPS 2.0 registration process was showcased. The step-by-step visual guide walked the students through profile creation
, document verification, and applying for active apprenticeships online. The Mela provided a vibrant networking ground, featuring active participation from leading public and private establishments. Top employers present at the venue to interact with candidates were NHPC, Creative Engineers, Great Elegants, Madan Electrical etc. The event concluded on a high note, with organizers reaffirming their commitment to hosting similar career-oriented drives in the future to continuously support the local student community.
