Disaster Management Training Programme Held at District Industries Centre, Leh

Leh, October 09 (Scoop News)-Under the aegis of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, in collaboration with the 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a Disaster Management Training Programme was conducted today at the District Industries Centre (DIC), Leh.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Zorawar Singh, Project Manager, DIC, Leh, followed by an address by Inspector Puran Singh Negi of the 13th Battalion NDRF. Constable GD Piyush Kumar subsequently conducted a lecture-cum-training session covering essential disaster response techniques, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), management of LPG cylinder leaks and fire emergencies, use of emergency floating rescue devices, and preparation of improvised stretchers using commonly available household materials.

The programme was attended by officers and staff from various government departments functioning at the District Industries Centre, Leh.

Deputy Commandant Mohd Shafiq expressed hope that the training sessions being conducted at various locations across the district would enhance public awareness and preparedness, equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively during real-life emergencies.

The district-wide training campaign, covering educational institutions and government departments, will continue until October 13, 2026, with the objective of strengthening disaster preparedness, promoting awareness, and enhancing safety measures across the district.
