Mehbooba Condemns attack on Policemen in Kashmir


Srinagar, June 22(Scoop News)-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti, condemned the killing of two policemen in Amirakadal area today.
Expressing deep shock over the incident, she said violence in any form would not solve any problem. Mehbooba expressed concern over the sharp increase in such targeted attacks on police and regretted that the present dispensation has totally failed to protect the human lives.
PDP president expressed her solidarity with the families of two slain cops Mohammad Maqbool and Nazir Ahmad.

Militants killed two policemen in the Hari Singh High Street market Srinagar on Saturday.
Police sources said that militants used silencer-fitted pistols carried out the simultaneous attacks at Jehangir Chowk and Srai Bala. In this attack two Policemen were seriously injured. They werre taken to hodipital,While one died on his way to hospital, another succumbed to his injuries when he was being operated in the hospital.They killed policemen were identified Mohammed Maqbool and Nazir Ahmed .

Sources said that a girl was also wounded in the attack. She has been shifted to a hospital.The crowded market was deserted immediately after the firing as security forces cordoned off the area for searches.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi are arriving on a two-day visit to the J &K state June 25.Prime Minister is going to inaugurating the train service between Banihal and Qazigund.
