Centre for Human Development (CHD) working on women empowerment in Kashmir


Srinagar,September 14, (Scoop News)-Social farming and social business are important components of broadening livelihood options in rural areas.
Centre for Human Development (CHD) initiated their interventions in 2015, were able to mobilize few women farmers in growing chilies in their farms (produced 40 kilograms of processed chili powder). In 2016, the production of chilies increased and the women farmers were able to produce 2-3 quintals of processed chili powder.


In 2017, more than 100 women farmers got associated with CHD (in chili cultivation) resulting in a high production of chilies. This year, the production of processed chili powder is 50 quintals.


As the production has increased, CHD are planning to market the surplus product via local retailers in the Anantnag town.


CHD investor, Unltd Delhi spoke to us at length about our work, the many challenges we face in our work and our larger vision for the Kashmiri women.
