Green J&K: Forest Deptt organises series of plantation drives across Jammu prov

Jammu,July 23 (Scoop News)-The J&K Forest Department in its Green J&K initiative has carried out series of Plantation programmes in various districts of Jammu province during last fortnight.

In Jammu district, DFO Urban Forestry Division organized an event in collaboration with Trikuta Nagar Welfare Association at Mini Market Trikuta Nagar.

The plantation drive was conducted in the presence of Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC, Suresh Chugh, Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K, Sameer Bharti, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Samuel Changkija, Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu and Rajinder Kakkar, President Trikuta Nagar Welfare Association.

During the drive, Chinar and other ornamental trees were planted. In another event at Army Public School Kaluchak, nearly 450 ornamental trees were planted in the presence of Lt. Col. B.S. Rana, Major Vijay Sharma, Capt. Anil Kumar and Staff of the school.

A major plantation programme was also organized at University of Jammu in collaboration with department of Environmental Sciences. The plantation of nearly 600 saplings was carried out in the presence of Manoj Kr. Dhar, Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Sameer Bharti, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Samuel Changklija, Conservator of Forests, East Circle, various Heads of Departments, students and members of INTECH Jammu.

In Rajouri district, plantation was carried out on Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Campus, in the presence of Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Dean of the University. Conservator of Forests, West Circle Rajouri, Dy. Director FPF, Wildlife Warden Rajouri, Divisional Manager SFC were also present. Nearly 200 saplings of Chinar, Harar, Draink, Shisham, Arjuna, etc. were planted with the participation of students. Forest Department Rajouri also carried out plantation of 2000 plants in Comptt. 44/R in the presence of B. Mohandaas, Conservator of Forests West Circle, Rajouri.

In Samba District, a plantation programme was carried out in collaboration with Dogra Group of Educational Institutions. The drive was attended by Ex. Education Minister J&K state S. Gulchain Singh Charak. The Principal, staff and students of Dogra Degree College participated in the plantation of nearly 100 plants.

The Forest Department in Ramban organized a plantation drive at ITI Banihal where about 150 Saplings of Deodar were planted. The staff and students of the institute actively participated in the plantation process.

Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Forest Department Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, has lauded the efforts of the Forest Department and encouraged them to strive further hard to continue this drive with this increasing momentum.
