Gujjar leader Ch Mohammad Aslam remembered on 6th death anniversary | | Jammu, June 17 (Scoop News)- Rich tributes were paid to renowned Gujjar leader and former minister and Member of Parliament Choudhary Mohammad Aslam on his 6th death anniversary. A simple function was organized by the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation here today, which was presided over by noted Gujjar researcher Dr. Javaid Rahi and attended by youth and tribal elders. Dr. Javaid Rahi in his presidential address described him as a visionary tribal leader who fought relentlessly for the rights of underprivileged classes especially for the tribal and other backward classes Rahi added that Ch Aslam who was elected to J&K Assembly as many as 6th times from Surankote Poonch constituency which shows his popularity among the masses. As a Member of the Parliament of India representing Jammu and Kashmir in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament he highlighted the issues of people of Jammu and Kashmir especially of those areas which are still backword. He said during his 50 year of leadership he has worked for everyone who approached him. He also served as Minister For Finance, Education, Social Welfare for two decades. He was also Speaker of J&K legislative Assembly and always worked for poor and downtrodden sections of society. Chowdhary Mohammad Aslam was born in 1944, village Lassana in Surankote area of Poonch District , He was the son of a prominent Gujjar leader, Ghulam Hussain Lassanvi who was known as Gujjar Gandhi among the Tribe. His services for Gujjar community will be remembered all times to come. Other who spoke on the occasion stated that late Aslam strove for and equitable development of the Jammu and Kashmir. He had worked for the comprehensive development of all sections and all regions as MLA, MP and Minister. They said that Aslam was a man of many qualities as he was known for his gentleness and honesty.
