Kargil, November 11 (Scoop News)-Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today inaugurated Al Wattan Library cum Study Centre in Kargil.
Former Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil and General Secretary, Al Wattan Charitable Foundation, Syed Kazim Sabiri, along with religious scholars, volunteers, and other guests were present on the occasion.
In his address, Dr. Akhoon commended Al Wattan Charitable Foundation for their dedicated efforts in advancing education and social welfare in the region.
He said the library would be instrumental in cultivating reading culture and would serve as a conducive space for students seeking to improve focus and engage in self-study.
The CEC highlighted Al Wattan’s various contributions to the community, such as funding education for 30 students from Kargil in institutions outside the Union Territory, installing over 60 submersible borings, and refurbishing more than 20 defective water pumps under their “Saqi Karbala” initiative.
Additionally, the Charitable Foundation has constructed two mosques and provided essential medical equipment, including oxygen concentrators and ECG machines, benefiting healthcare facilities in the region.
Dr. Akhoon further mentioned that the Hill Council, along with the MP of Ladakh, has taken a recent initiative to support 10 students from the region in pursuing UPSC coaching in Delhi.
He congratulated the foundation for establishing Al Wattan Library and assured them full support of the Hill Council in their future endeavors to uplift Kargil’s educational system.
Syed Kazim Sabiri, General Secretary of Al Wattan Charitable Foundation, expressed gratitude to all attendees and shared insights into the foundation’s mission and ongoing projects aimed at community welfare.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Syed Kazim Sabiri, marking a hopeful beginning for Al Wattan Library cum Study Centre as a resource for the students of Kargil.
