Bijbehara,November 14 (Scoop News)- On eve of National children's Day 2024, an inclusive Childrens Day event was organised by Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline (HWOHL) in collaboration with Radiant public School Batengoo Anantnag. Around 100 children enrolled in Zaiba Aapa institute of Inclusive Education Bijbehara Kashmir and 50 students of Radiant public school Batengoo Anantnag participated in the Art on one Mat. The organisers of the Event told that the event was organised to break the barriers and create inclusion of children with Disabilities to the main stream.
In the inaugural session The chief functionary of Humanity welfare organization Helpline NGO said that Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline Bijbehara has been established in 2003 and the organisation has been continuously fighting for the safeguard of rights of persons with Disabilities. We have been advocating at country level and organising inclusive programmes in order to create sensitisation among masses. Today a huge number of students enrolled in zaiba Aapa institute of inclusive education Bijbehara Kashmir mixed with the hundreds of children enrolled in Radiant public school Batengoo got an opportunity to know each other. The stereotypes and labels linked with Disability sector got removed as the non disable children keenly observed that art doesn't need body fitness or strength in muscles. It needs the courage to brush on canvas, paper or wall. The children were not knowing how a child with disability maintains his personal hygiene and take lunch with discipline. But today the practical session was seen by non Disable children which changed their mindset about Disability.
Sajad Ahmad Gadoo chairman Radiant Public School who formally inaugurated the inclusive art performance said that Zaiba Aapa institute of inclusive education under the aegis of Humanity welfare organization Helpline is a role model institute creating inclusion. District Anantnag is proud of having such institution which not only included children with Disabilities in mainstream but created a high level consciousness in society about the Rights of the valuable population. He thanked staff members of Zaiba Aapa institute of inclusive education Bijbehara and appreciated thier role in developing the educational standards for children with Disabilities. He said I had heard about the institution but today hosting children's Day for them opened my eyes and I promise to create inclusion by engaging staff with Disabilities, construction of ramp and one washroom completely disable friendly. This will be in first phase but later on the children with Disabilities too will be given admission to create complete inclusion. He assured that Radiant public school Batengoo will work closely with Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline to empower persons with Disabilities and showcase their abilities.
District social welfare officer Anantnag who has been holding charge of District child protection unit of district Anantnag was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that Students enrolled in zaiba Aapa institute of inclusive education Bijbehara are the role models and internationally known children. They have been participating in district state national and international events of sports art and music. The children have brought laurels and accolades at high levels. Humanity welfare organization Helpline is a credible organization that has been closely working with District adminstration and has made a huge level change in attitude regarding Disability. Earlier Disability sector was not included but due to day night efforts of Humanity welfare organization Helpline NGO the Disability sector has got full upliftment and progress, Malik added. DSWO Anantnag appealed the public that time has come to include children with Disabilities in all areas like sports, art, recreation, competitions and educational activities so that in future they are productive part of society and not any burden or parasites.
A counselling session for children of Radiant Public School was held by Social workers working as referral and field coordinators in Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline. They sensitized students about life skills, stay away from drugs and positive discipline. The participant teachers and students showed satisfaction over the training. They requested for additional sessions in the school so that all the students get benefitted from the training and counselling. Nazarul Islam and Sujahat Farhan coordinated the programme and presented vote of thanks.
