Jammu, February 10 (Scoop News)-Awareness Lecture on Leprosy was organized by First Aid committee of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College Samba in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office under SPARSH LEPROSY PROGRAM. The event aimed to educate students and faculty about leprosy, its causes, symptoms, treatment, and the importance of early detection and eradication. The session was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri,Principal of the college along with medical professionals from the CMO Office, Samba. Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasized that leprosy is a completely curable disease and highlighted the National Leprosy Eradication Program (NLEP), which focuses on early diagnosis, free treatment, and reducing social stigma associated with the disease. During the lecture, medical experts dispelled common myths about leprosy and educated the attendees about preventive measures, transmission modes, and the significance of community awareness. The session also encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change by spreading correct information within their communities. Speaking on the occasion Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, expressed gratitude to the CMO team for their valuable insights and conducting an informative session to help create a more aware and sensitive society. The event concluded with an interactive session wherein students actively participated and clarified their doubts.
