CUKashmir holds online workshop on ‘Data Analytics & AI with MATLAB’

Ganderbal, February 11 (Scoop News)-Departments of Physics and Information Technology, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) in collaboration with DesignTech Systems, New Delhi, successfully conducted a two-day online workshop on “Data Analytics & AI with MATLAB” on February 9–10, 2026.

Held under the banner of AI Summit 2026 India, the programme witnessed participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members across various departments of the University.

The workshop introduced participants to the diverse applications of MATLAB in data science and artificial intelligence. Through a blend of expert lectures and hands-on training sessions, attendees were guided through the complete data analytics workflow. The sessions covered key aspects such as importing and preprocessing datasets, applying machine learning algorithms, signal processing techniques, and generating visual insights for meaningful interpretation of data. The live coding exercises and practical demonstrations provided participants with valuable exposure to real-world problem-solving approaches.

A key feature of the programme was its interdisciplinary orientation. By bringing together the domains of Physics and Information Technology, the workshop fostered collaborative learning and encouraged participants to explore AI applications beyond conventional academic boundaries. The academic–industry partnership with DesignTech Systems further enhanced the practical relevance of the sessions, equipping learners with industry-aligned skills and contemporary technical competencies.

The departments hailed Vice Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, for his visionary leadership and continued encouragement in promoting innovation-driven academic initiatives.

Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, lauded the initiative, observing that such capacity-building activities significantly enrich the academic ecosystem by blending theoretical foundations with hands-on technical exposure.

Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, appreciated the departments for the successful conduct of the workshop and reiterated the University administration’s commitment to supporting programmes that strengthen skill development, foster interdisciplinary engagement, and build industry linkages.

Earlier, in his remarks during the event, Prof. Debanjan Bose, HoD Physics, highlighted the University’s sustained efforts to integrate advanced technologies into its academic framework. He noted that the workshop marked an important step toward nurturing future-ready professionals capable of addressing complex scientific and technological challenges.

Dr. Yash Paul, Asst Prof. and Coordinator, Deptt of IT, elaborated on the broader vision of Mission AI Summit 2026 India. He stressed the importance of continuous academic initiatives aimed at strengthening AI-driven research, innovation, and learning across disciplines.

Representatives from DesignTech Systems commended the collaborative initiative and underscored the significance of sustained academia–industry partnerships in building a robust AI ecosystem in the country. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Raja Nisar Ali, Asst Prof. Deptt of Physics, and Dr. Yash Paul.
