IUST Holds First Advisory Committee Meeting of the Centre for Good Governance

Awantipora, April 16 (Scoop News)- The Centre for Good Governance and Policy Analysis (CGG&PA), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), convened its first Advisory Committee Meeting at the University’s main campus today.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST, who emphasized the University’s commitment to fostering evidence-based policymaking and institutional excellence. Highlighting the broader vision, he remarked that the University’s mission is to integrate academic excellence with practical governance solutions to promote sustainable development and effective public service delivery in Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by distinguished members of the Advisory Committee, including Dr. S. P. Varma (Padma Shri awardee); Mr. Lateefuzaman Deva (IAS Retd.), former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission; Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari (IAS Retd.), former Commissioner Secretary and former Chairman, BOPEE; Mr. Zafar Ahmad Bhat (IAS Retd.), former Secretary to Government; Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Special Secretary; Prof. Ashok Aima, former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu; Prof. Ayaz Hassan Moon, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof. Abdul Wahid Makhdoomi, Registrar; Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone (JKAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Awantipora; Mr. Vinod, Chief Digital Officer, Tata AutoComp Systems Limited; Mr. Baldev Singh, CMD, Vehicle Leads; along with the Dean Research, Dean Outreach, Dean of Students, and Prof. Himayun Rashid (Professor of Practice), among others.

Welcoming the members, Prof. G. N. Itoo, Director, Centre for Good Governance and Policy Analysis, IUST, outlined the objectives of the Centre and stated that it aims to provide a platform that strengthens evidence-based policymaking and enhances governance frameworks through innovative ideas and research.

The meeting focused on strengthening educational governance frameworks in the country in general and Jammu & Kashmir in particular. The members expressed their full support to the University’s broader mission and to the objectives of the Centre. It was also discussed that pilot projects in priority areas would be undertaken in the first phase.
