Jammu,April 23 (Scoop News)-A delegation of J&K Jatt Sabha today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu and submitted a memorandum of demands.
Led by the President of Jatt Sabha and former Minister, Manjit Singh, the delegation met the Hon’ble LG and submitted the memorandum.
The memorandum demanded that OBC quota benefits for the Jatts of Jammu and Kashmir be taken up with the Central Government and extended to professional colleges and Central Government jobs across India.
They appealed to the LG to project these demands before the Central Government so that the Jatt community receives due justice.
“We also request that the people/allottees be provided compensation in the form of rent for the use of their land under the ditch-cum-fence along the International Border in the Jammu region by the Army and the Border Security Force,” said Manjit Singh while interacting with the LG.
He also demanded the release of the full and final compensation package in favour of the Displaced Persons of the Jammu region. He informed that the government has so far released ₹5.5 lakh, but the remaining amount of ₹25 lakh is still pending.
Furthermore, the delegation stated that the recent heavy rains and hailstorms have severely damaged standing crops, causing significant financial losses to farmers in Jammu. They urged that adequate compensation be provided to the affected farmers and that special girdawari be conducted in the affected areas of the Jammu division.
After giving them a patient hearing, the LG assured that their genuine demands would be addressed.
Chief Patron Tarlok Singh Bajwa, ex-Corporator Dwarka Choudhary, and Sabha spokesperson Choudhary Jarnail were also part of the delegation. |
