Srinagar, May 26 (Scoop News)- In a heartfelt message on the eve of Eid Al-Adha, Mehbooba Mufti extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the Muslim Ummah across the world, praying that the sacred occasion brings peace, compassion and relief to every household.
She said Eid Al-Adha is not merely a festival of celebration, but a reminder of the values of sacrifice, patience, humility and unwavering faith. “The spirit of Eid teaches us to stand by the distressed, care for the underprivileged and strengthen the bonds of humanity and brotherhood,” she said.
Mehbooba Mufti expressed concern over the hardships being faced by people across Jammu & Kashmir due to unemployment, economic distress and growing uncertainty, stating that festivals should serve as moments of healing and collective hope. She urged the administration to ensure uninterrupted electricity, water supply and availability of essential services during the Eid days so that people can observe the occasion with dignity.
The PDP President also appealed to people to remember families affected by violence, imprisonment and tragedy in their prayers and extend support to those who are struggling silently. She said the true essence of Eid lies in sharing happiness with others and ensuring that no family feels abandoned or forgotten.
She further urged the ulema and religious scholars to use the sacred occasion to guide and enlighten society against growing social evils, particularly the menace of drug addiction and the alarming rise in crime. Mehbooba Mufti said religious and community leaders have an important role in spreading awareness, strengthening moral values and steering the younger generation towards a path of responsibility, compassion and hope.
Praying for lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti hoped that this Eid ushers in an atmosphere of reconciliation, harmony and compassion across the region. |
