Addressing the gathering, Working President JKPCC Shri Raman Bhalla strongly criticised the Central Government for its failure to control inflation and provide relief to the common masses. He said that the prices of essential commodities, cooking gas, petrol, diesel and other daily-use items have reached unbearable levels, badly affecting middle-class families, labourers, shopkeepers, youth and economically weaker sections. Bhalla stated that every household in the country is struggling due to the anti-people policies of the BJP government and despite repeated promises, no concrete measures have been taken to reduce inflation. He said that unemployment and inflation together have pushed people into severe financial distress while the government continues to remain insensitive towards public suffering.
Further speaking on the issue, Bhalla further said that the BJP government has completely failed on the economic front and is trying to divert public attention from real issues. He alleged that the burden of rising prices is crushing the poor and salaried classes while big corporate houses are being favoured. He said that Congress Party will continue to raise the voice of the common people both on roads and in public forums until relief is provided to the people. Bhalla appealed to the government to immediately reduce prices of fuel, LPG cylinders and essential commodities and formulate policies aimed at public welfare instead of imposing additional burdens on citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, District President Jammu Urban & Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney said that the present situation has made it extremely difficult for ordinary families to survive with dignity as the prices of every essential item are continuously increasing. He said that women managing households are the worst sufferers due to rising kitchen expenses and youth are facing frustration because of unemployment and lack of opportunities. Sawhney stated that Congress workers are standing with the people and will continue democratic protests against anti-people policies. He added that the voice of the common man cannot be suppressed and the Congress Party remains committed to fighting for public welfare and economic justice.
Also speaking about this, JKPCC Spokesperson Shri Ravinder Sharma, while addressing the protest demonstration, said that inflation under the BJP regime has broken all previous records and exposed the false promises made before elections. He said that instead of addressing real public concerns, the government is busy with publicity campaigns while common citizens are struggling to meet daily expenses. Sharma stated that the continuous increase in prices of fuel and essential commodities has affected every section of society and demanded immediate intervention from the government to provide relief to the people. He also urged citizens to unite democratically against anti-people economic policies.
Former DCC President and contested candidate Thakur Manmohan Singh said that the protest was organised to highlight the hardships being faced by the common people due to unchecked inflation and rising prices. He said that traders, labourers, employees, pensioners and poor families are all suffering because of the government’s failure to control the economy. He added that Congress Party will continue to stand with the people and intensify its struggle against price rise until effective steps are taken to reduce the burden on the public. |
