Jammu June 14 (Scoop News)-At the elections of All Jandial Sabha (Regd) held at the baba Sehejnath ji’s Devasthan here today, Romesh Kumar Gupta was elected President and Suresh Kumar Jandial General Secretary.
Romesh Gupta was elected unopposed as its opponent Pradeep Gupta has withdrawn from the contest at the last stage.
Suresh Kumar Jandial defeated his only rival Harjinder Gupta by a huge margin of 266 votes. Suresh polled 493 votes while his opponent Harjinder got 227 votes. In all. 723 votes were polled, three of which were declared invalid.
The election was conducted by a 3-Member Election Commission headed by Rattan Lal Gupta, former MLC. The other two members were Advocate Ravi Gupta and Dy S P Devinder Gupta. It thanked Jandial Biradari for huge participation.
It was held after a gap of more than nine years due to court cases. For the first time election was held through voter cum Identity cards specially made for the election.
The supporters of the winning President and General Secretary profusely garlanded the elected President and General Secretary. They paid obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Sehejnath ji and assured the Biradari of continuing good work done by the Ad hoc Committee in the past with promise to further improve amenities for the devotees.
Later, they visited the residence of the Chief Patron Justice (Retd) K. K. Gupta and took his blessings. He advised the newly elected President and the general Secretary to pick good and dedicated members having integrity, for their Working Committee and get down to the work immediately for welfare of the Biradari. Senior member of the baradari K B Jandial who was among the main supporters of the winning team was also present.
