Tangtse, June 25 (Scoop News)-Shri Nitish Rajora, Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, visited Sub-Division Durbuk today and reviewed various developmental and public welfare initiatives. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the Public Library at Tangtse along with the Station Commander, 114 HQ Tangtse. The library has been constructed by the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana. On the occasion, the Station Commander highlighted that the facility should be optimally utilised by students for academic growth and learning. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the Indian Army for establishing the facility, which includes over 1,000 books, a rest room, toilet, and heating facilities. Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a review meeting with officials of the Rural Development Department, Durbuk, and LREDA to assess the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, Viksit Bharat Gram Gram Panchayat Abhiyan (VBGGA), and PMAY. He stressed the need for greater public awareness regarding Single-Use Plastics (SUP) and directed officials to ensure strict enforcement, including the imposition of penalties in cases of non-compliance. In another meeting, Shri Rajora reviewed the functioning of the Health Department at PHC Tangtse. Officials gave a detailed presentation on infrastructure, patient care services, departmental functioning, and ongoing schemes. The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to ensure saturation of target-oriented schemes and directed them to conduct fortnightly awareness camps on drug abuse and mental health. During the visit, several delegations from Durbuk and Tangtse also met the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him of various local issues and concerns.
