Khaltse, June 28 (Scoop News)- The Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme for children between 0 to 5 years was successfully conducted across Sham district today.
Deputy Commissioner Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS) along with Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse Dr. Javed Ahmed formally inaugurated the programme by administering polio drops to a child and urged parents to ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine for a polio-free society. The DC appreciated the efforts of health workers, supervisors, volunteers and supporting staff for their active participation in the campaign.
During the campaign, a total of 68 immunisation booths were established across the district to cover all eligible children. Altogether 227 manpower were engaged in the smooth conduct of the programme, while 12 supervisors monitored the overall implementation and functioning of the booths. In addition, 5 mobile teams were deployed to reach remote and inaccessible areas to ensure no child was left uncovered.
ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers from various Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) also actively participated in the programme and played a vital role in mobilising parents and spreading awareness regarding the significance of Pulse Polio immunisation.
Health officials highlighted the importance of Pulse Polio Immunisation in protecting children from the crippling disease and appealed to the public to continue supporting health initiatives for the welfare of children.
The programme was conducted successfully with active cooperation from health officials, frontline workers and the general public. |
