Srinagar, July 18 (Scoop News)- Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and the unlawful transportation of mineral resources, Police in Baramulla conducted checking at various locations across the district to curb violations of mining laws and safeguard natural resources.
During the enforcement drive, Police Post Mirgund intercepted and seized one tipper bearing Registration No. JK08B-6274, which was found involved in the illegal transportation of mining material without valid authorization.
In another operation, one dumper bearing Registration No. JK05J-9110 was intercepted and found transporting mining material illegally. In a separate action at Tapper, another dumper bearing Registration No. JK05Q-1715, driven by Maqsood Ahmad Thaker son of Mohammad Sulaiman resident of Boniyar, was also intercepted and seized for illegally transporting mineral resources.
All the cases were immediately reported to the Department of Geology & Mining, and necessary legal proceedings have been initiated under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) in coordination with the concerned department.
J&K Police remains committed to taking strict action against illegal mining in close coordination with the Department of Geology & Mining. Such enforcement drives will continue across the district to prevent the illegal exploitation of natural resources, ensure strict compliance with the law, and protect the environment.
The general public is urged to report any instances of illegal mining or unlawful transportation of mineral resources to the nearest Police Station so that appropriate legal action can be taken. |
