Khaltsi, August 06 (Scoop News)-The Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Sham, regarding the celebration of the milestone of the 6th Year of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in building a drug-free society through coordinated efforts of government departments, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and community organisations. She stressed the need for collective participation to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among the youth, and called upon all stakeholders to actively contribute towards making the campaign a success.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments and stakeholders to organise awareness programmes, rallies, seminars, pledge-taking ceremonies, cultural events, and community outreach activities across the district to commemorate the milestone. She further emphasised the active involvement of schools, colleges, Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth clubs, religious organisations, and civil society groups to maximise public participation and strengthen the message of a drug-free society.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pledge will be administered across the district on 18 August 2026. The Deputy Commissioner also directed all departments to actively participate in Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from 12 August to 17 August 2026 by encouraging citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes. Departments were instructed to promote the "Selfie with Tiranga" campaign and share photographs on the designated portal and social media platforms. It was further decided to organise programmes based on the national song and patriotic themes, while Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be observed on 14 August 2026 with appropriate awareness activities.
The meeting was attended by both physically and virtually by the Executive Engineer, PWD; Block Medical Officer, Khaltsi; representatives from Rural Development Department (Khaltsi and Saspol); Station House Officer, Khaltsi; Finance Department; Zonal Education Officer, Khaltsi; Forest Range Officer; officers from ICDS, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Cooperative Department, and other concerned departments. Principals of Government Higher Secondary Schools, Government High Schools, and Private Schools of Sham District also attended the meeting, along with Vice President of Ladakh Buddhist Association (Sham), President of Sham Ama Tsogspa, and representatives of Zhunu Tsogspa, Khaltsi.
The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion on the schedule of activities, allocation of departmental responsibilities, and coordinated action for the successful celebration of the Milestone of the 6th Year of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Har Ghar Tiranga campaign across Sham District.
