Kargil,August 07 (Scoop News)-As part of the Ministry of Health Government of India's commitment towards the elimination of Tuberculosis and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), an NTEP & NCD Screening Camp was conducted on 07th August 2026 at the Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kharu, for Government officers and officials of Kharu Block. The camp was organized by the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), Leh, in collaboration with the Health Department, Leh Block, under the supervision of AAM-PHC Sakti.
Before the commencement of the screening camp, Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk, Medical Officer, AAM-PHC Sakti, delivered an awareness session on Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Communicable Diseases (Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity and related illnesses). The awareness programme was conducted in the presence of Sh. Mohd Shabeer, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kharu, Block Development Officer (BDO), Kharu, Tehsildar, Kharu, SHO, Police Post Kharu, and officials from various Government departments.
During his address, Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk highlighted that Government officers and officials are often occupied with official responsibilities and tend to neglect their own health. He emphasized the importance of regular health screening for early detection and timely management of tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases. He apprised that the initiative of organizing the screening camp at the doorstep of Government offices, making preventive healthcare more accessible by the Health Department.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Mohd Shabeer, SDM Kharu, encouraged all Government employees to prioritize their health and undergo regular screening for NCDs and tuberculosis, stating that a healthy workforce is essential for efficient public service delivery.
