Awantipora, August 10 (Scoop News)-The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), with the approval of the Vice Chancellor, has launched a Centralised Outreach and Community Engagement Programme, ‘Rabt-u-Nisbat (ربط و نسبت) – Building Meaningful Associations for a Sustainable Society.’ The initiative will be coordinated by the Dean Outreach Office.
The programme seeks to bring the University’s outreach and community engagement efforts under a common framework, enabling Schools, Departments, Centres, Offices and Constituent Colleges to work together more effectively and extend the benefits of IUST’s academic, research and innovation ecosystem to a wider section of society.
A key focus of Rabt-u-Nisbat will be to connect with schools, colleges and communities, particularly in rural, remote and underserved areas. Through these engagements, IUST will facilitate academic interactions, career guidance, skill development, science and technology outreach, training programmes, research linkages, entrepreneurship and other activities based on the needs of communities and partner institutions. The initiative will also provide external stakeholders greater access to the University’s academic and research resources through laboratory visits, expert interactions, demonstrations, workshops and other knowledge-sharing activities.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the programme will encourage collaboration among IUST and schools, higher education institutions, government departments, industries, NGOs, alumni and community organisations. The Dean Outreach Office will serve as the nodal point for institutional outreach activities, facilitating coordination among different units and helping strengthen existing partnerships while developing new ones. Through Rabt-u-Nisbat, IUST aims to make its relationship with society more purposeful, sustained and mutually beneficial, while contributing to educational, scientific, economic and social development across Jammu & Kashmir.
