Jammu, August 28 (Scoop News)-BJP Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, J&K, Gaurav Gupta, today said that India’s intensive diplomatic outreach ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13 is a powerful demonstration of the country’s rising global stature and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s confident, independent and interest-driven foreign policy.
Gupta said that the simultaneous high-level engagement with Russia, China, Japan, the United States and Canada reflects India’s growing ability to engage with diverse and competing global power centres without compromising its sovereignty or strategic interests.
“From Moscow to Beijing, Tokyo to Washington and Ottawa, India is engaging every major power with confidence, clarity and purpose. India is neither tied to any one geopolitical camp nor dictated by external pressures. Our national interest remains the guiding principle of our foreign policy. This is Strategic Autonomy in action,” Gupta said.
He said India’s diplomatic approach represents a mature foreign policy in which partnerships are strengthened on the basis of mutual interest, strategic priorities and long-term national objectives.
Gupta highlighted External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar’s engagement in Moscow, saying it assumes significance in further consolidating the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
He said cooperation in energy, defence, trade, technology and strategic affairs continues to remain an important pillar of India’s external engagement.
Referring to NSA Ajit Doval’s Special Representatives-level dialogue in Beijing, Gupta said India has demonstrated that it can simultaneously pursue dialogue and protect its strategic interests.
He said India remains committed to maintaining peace and tranquillity along the border while working towards a stable, balanced and constructive relationship with China.
Gupta said Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s extensive engagement in Japan, alongside a large Indian business delegation, reflects the expanding economic dimension of India’s foreign policy.
He noted that India-Japan cooperation is opening new avenues in trade, investment, technology, infrastructure, manufacturing and resilient supply chains, demonstrating how diplomacy is increasingly translating into tangible economic opportunities.
Gupta also highlighted Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s engagements in the United States and Canada, describing them as an important component of India’s expanding economic diplomacy.
He said India is working to deepen trade, investment and financial cooperation with key Western partners while creating greater opportunities for Indian businesses and the national economy.
Gupta asserted that India’s simultaneous engagement with Russia, China, Japan, the United States and Canada reflects the confidence of a nation that is increasingly shaping its own strategic choices.
“India today has the confidence to strengthen its strategic partnership with Russia, engage China on sensitive boundary issues, deepen economic and technological cooperation with Japan, and simultaneously expand economic relations with the United States and Canada.
“This is not diplomatic ambiguity. This is strategic clarity rooted firmly in national interest,” he asserted.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming participation in the SCO Summit, Gupta said the meeting will provide another important opportunity for high-level bilateral engagements ahead of the BRICS Summit, particularly with the leadership of Russia and China.
He said such engagements reinforce India’s growing role in shaping conversations on regional stability, economic cooperation and the emerging global order.
Gupta said the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13 carries exceptional significance as the grouping marks its 20th anniversary and brings together an expanded group of major emerging economies.
He said the summit will provide India with an important platform to strengthen its leadership within the Global South and advance discussions on issues of global economic governance, development, trade and international cooperation.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a reliable strategic partner, a leading voice of the Global South and a responsible global power.
“The diplomatic momentum ahead of BRICS clearly demonstrates that India is no longer merely responding to global geopolitical developments. India is increasingly helping shape the global agenda,” Gupta said.
He added that India’s ability to engage different power centres while firmly safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests represents the essence of the New India’s foreign policy.
Gupta said India’s message to the international community is clear and confident: “We will engage with everyone, partner with everyone, cooperate with everyone—but decide for ourselves.”
He said the BRICS Summit in New Delhi will be another major demonstration of India’s strategic confidence, diplomatic capability and growing leadership in the emerging global order.
